It’s that time of year again — and this year, Chaz is the one going “In a Box!”

For 24 straight hours, Chaz from Chaz and AJ in the Morning on 99.1PLR and Channel 3 WFSB’s Scot Haney will be confined inside a box at Crabtree Chevrolet and Lexus of New Haven in East Haven, all in the name of raising money and collecting toys for local children and families in need this holiday season. The donations will go toward the annual Chaz and AJ Crabtree Motor Group Toy Drive.

The event begins, Thursday, November 13, at 9 a.m., and continues until Friday, November 14, at 9 a.m., when Chaz and Scot will finally emerge — hopefully with their sanity intact!

The duo won’t just be trapped in a box — they’ll be forced to listen to Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” on an endless loop for the entire 24 hours! The song was chosen by listeners in the show’s annual poll to select the most “annoying” song possible, a lighthearted tradition designed to make the stunt even more entertaining — and to help raise even more money for the cause.

“It’s all for a great cause — helping local kids have a better holiday. If I have to listen to “Barbie Girl” for 24 hours to make that happen, it’s worth it,” said Chaz.

Listeners, viewers, and community members are invited to stop by Crabtree Chevrolet and Lexus of New Haven located at 655 Main Street in East Haven to make a monetary donation or drop off a new, unwrapped toy. There will be live appearances, special guests, and updates from inside the box, plus plenty of laughs along the way. Donations can also be made online at wplr.com.
