Chaz And AJ Return To Long Island Mornings On 94.3 The Shark
March 4, 2026
Connoisseur Media announces that the nationally recognized Chaz and AJ Show will officially expand its reach and return to Long Island mornings on 94.3 The Shark (WWSK), beginning Monday, March 9, marking a true homecoming for one of rock radio’s most enduring and celebrated teams.
The move reunites the show with the market where the partnership first began and represents a rare moment in rock radio — bringing a legacy morning show back to the region where its story started, while continuing its successful run on heritage rock station 99.1 WPLR in New Haven.
With roots firmly planted on Long Island, Chaz and AJ first built a loyal following on the Island before
moving across the Sound to WPLR in 2003, where they have hosted morning drive ever since and become one of the most recognized teams in rock radio.
“The Chaz and AJ show began on Long Island and it just makes perfect sense to have them return home,” said Keith Dakin, SVP of Programming for Connoisseur Media. “The show has always been for and about the listeners, and now we get to add a whole bunch more to the party. The connection between Chaz and AJ and their audience runs deep, and bringing Long Island back into that community is something we’re really excited about.”
For AJ, the return is personal. Born in Huntington and raised on Long Island, he grew up listening to local radio stations and WPLR across the Sound. He interned at WBAB, worked at WMJC (now 94.3 The Shark), and later hosted mornings at WRCN, where he first met Chaz.
In January 1996, Chaz joined WRCN, replacing AJ in morning drive. A year later, in 1997, Chaz invited AJ
to join him and launched a partnership that has now spanned nearly three decades. Together, they hosted mornings on WRCN from 1997 to 2003 before moving to WPLR in New Haven, where they became a dominant force in rock radio.
Often jokingly referred to as the “Billy Martin of Long Island Radio,” hired and fired more than once – AJ
has resilient and memorable career on the Island. That journey makes this return especially meaningful.
“We are thrilled to get back to our roots on Long Island,” said Chaz and AJ in a joint statement. “Now we’ll wake up audiences on The Shark and on WPLR in New Haven — it truly feels like the best of both worlds. We’re grateful to our CEO, Jeff Warshaw, for the opportunity to expand the show and bring it home. We’re going to work hard every day to earn the trust and ears of Long Island listeners. For decades, we’ve believed they deserve a better show — and we intend to bring it.”
Over the years, the Chaz and AJ Show has built a passionate and loyal fan base, including a dedicated core known as “The Tribe.” Expanding onto Long Island is expected to grow that community even further, connecting listeners across Connecticut and New York under one show.
Chaz and AJ are among the most decorated morning teams in rock radio. Their honors include the prestigious Marconi Award for Best Morning Show, multiple community service honors, and most recently being named a Top 5 Rock Morning Show in the United States.
In addition, Chaz has signed a new five-year agreement with Connoisseur Media, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the show’s continued growth.
Beginning Monday, March 9, listeners can wake up with Chaz and AJ each weekday morning on 94.3 The Shark. The same high-energy, community-driven, and unpredictable show that has defined them for nearly 30 years returns home – right where it all began.
