Connoisseur Media San José Expands Kbay To 98.5 FM, Strengthening Bay Country’s Reach Across The South Bay

July 22, 2026

Connoisseur Media announced today that 98.5 KBAY (Bay Country) is expanding its reach by adding the 98.5 FM signal, significantly increasing coverage across the South Bay and surrounding communities.

Effective immediately, KBAY’s country format will be heard on 98.5 FM, the former home of KUFX. During the transition period, KBAY will continue to simulcast on its longtime frequency until the previously announced sale of that signal to K-LOVE is completed.

The new frequency gives Bay Country a substantially larger broadcast footprint while maintaining the programming, personalities, and local focus that have made KBAY a favorite among country listeners.

“Expanding Bay Country to 98.5 is an investment in both our listeners and our advertising partners,” said Brian “Fig” Figula, Regional Operations Manager.  “This gives KBAY the stronger signal and broader reach the brand deserves while preserving everything our audience already loves about the station.”

“2026 has been a landmark year for country music, making this the ideal time to move KBAY to a stronger signal,” said Keith Dakin, SVP of Programming for Connoisseur Media. “The San Francisco Bay Area has long been underserved by a major country station, and we’re ready to fill that void. With Danny Miller, Tony Michaels, and Emily Harlan leading the lineup, KBAY is in a great spot to become the Bay Area’s premier destination for country music.”

All of KBAY’s current on-air personalities will remain in place.  As part of the transition, KUFX will continue as K FOX Classic Rock, available on HD2 and online through Super Hi-Fi, allowing fans to continue enjoying the station’s rock programming through digital platforms.

The station expansion will be accompanied by several programming leadership changes across Connoisseur Media’s West Coast markets, to be announced shortly.
