Chaz & AJ Morning Show Celebrate Almost a Quarter of a $million With Record-breaking Toy Drive at Jordan’s Furniture
December 13, 2025
New Haven, CT (Dec 12, 2025) – Connecticut’s #1 morning team, Chaz and AJ, on 99.1PLR, celebrated an extraordinary outpouring of generosity at the annual Chaz and AJ Crabtree Motor Group Toy Drive, held Friday, December 12th at Jordan’s Furniture in New Haven. This year’s event raised an unprecedented $225,000.00 in toys and donations, marking the highest total in Toy Drive history, for families in need across the state.
All toys and donations benefit BH Care, Boys & Girls Village, Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, The Center for Family Justice, Family Centered Services of CT, Holiday for Giving in Wallingford, and The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.
The broadcast featured electrifying performances from national recording artists Quiet Riot and Sponge, high-energy sets from the youth musicians of Rock House, and crowd favorite The Rum Runners, creating a morning full of holiday spirit, music, and memorable surprises.
Governor Ned Lamont and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal attended to show their support for the cause and to celebrate the generosity of the Connecticut community.
This year’s Toy Drive also delivered some of the most entertaining and unforgettable moments in its history:
- State Comptroller Sean Scanlon brought the house down by participating in a spirited round of “Cataoke” (karaoke, but meowing instead of singing!), drawing big laughs from the live audience.
- New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker delighted the crowd by donning a full hot dog costume for a special tribute to Long Wharf’s first food truck, Sweeney’s Hot Dog King.
- WFSB’s Scot Haney had the room cheering with his performance of a Bee Gees classic, all while dressed in a pink bunny costume.
- And legendary concert promoter Jimmy Koplik of Live Nation surprised several lucky attendees with free concert tickets, adding an extra dose of excitement to the morning.
“We were blown away by the generosity we saw today. Every toy and every dollar donated will help make the holidays brighter for kids in our communities. We can’t thank our listeners, partners, and supporters enough,” said Chaz.
AJ added, “The best part about Christmas morning is knowing that a child is opening a present, especially those who otherwise may not have received one.”
Supporters who couldn’t attend in person can still contribute by donating online at wplr.com.
