“Best of” The Gold Coast

In Connecticut, congratulations to 95.9 the Fox, the Fairfield County Advocate’s winner for “Best Radio Station”, and to Chaz & AJ, winners of “Best Radio Personalities” and “Best Radio Show.” The wins were part of the annual Best of the Gold Coast edition.

Bragging rights also belong to 99.1 WPLR for their big wins in the New Haven Advocate’s version of the edition. They won for “Best Radio Station”; Chaz & AJ again won — for “Best Personality” and “Best Radio Show”; and Drew Carrano was no slouch himself, as he helped the station win for “Best Instagram” and “Best Twitter”!

Stand Up for Brett Comedy Benefit

On February 21, Chaz and AJ held a charity comedy event  for Officer Brett Morgan, who sustained a terrible injury while on active duty. This sold-out event was held in Morgan’s hometown of New Britain and featured comedy from a variety of local comics, AJ and the Fairfield Police Chief. The evening raised over $7,000 for Brett’s family to help defray medical expenses.

Each year, STAR 99.9 teams up with Stop & Shop and the Connecticut Food Bank for the “Food For Friends” food drive to benefit our neighbors in need. Thursday November 21st, each personality broadcasted live from a Stop & Shop location for 13 hours—this meant (3) simultaneous broadcasts, executed flawlessly from our engineering team. We collected 513 turkeys, 11,781lbs of food and $7,609.
