99.1 PLR’s Chaz & AJ Raise Over $109,000 for Connecticut Children’s Charities
Connecticut’s most popular morning team, Chaz and AJ, took their show to Jordan’s Furniture in New Haven this morning and raised $109,852.78 in cash and toys.
This annual four and half hour “Chaz and AJ McDermott Chevrolet and Lexus Toy Drive” featured music from Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, The Machine a premiere Pink Floyd tribute band and local party band Darik and the Funbags. Besides musical entertainment, the show featured appearances from both Senator Chris Murphy and Senator Richard Blumenthal plus local area mayors from Danbury, Ansonia, Derby and Bridgeport.
“There are no words that properly express the gratitude I feel towards our tribe for coming up big and helping so many kids this holiday season,” Chaz said.
The toys were immediately distributed to the McGivney Community Center Bridgeport, Boys and Girls Village Milford, Center for Human Services Stratford, Rite-Way-4-Kids New Haven and the Boys and Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley.
“On behalf of WPLR I want to thank the amazing generosity of the Chaz and AJ listeners and our sponsors for their continued support of this incredible day,” said General Manager Kristin Okesson, “The Chaz and AJ McDermett Chevrolet and Lexus Toy Drive is a strong force in Connecticut and will bring a bit of happiness this holiday season to deserving children. There is nothing quite like what happened at Jordan’s Furniture today, the PLR family is overwhelmed by the result.”
