Zella Day Performs Up Close & Personal for WALK Listeners
WALK 97.5 gave listeners a Valentine’s treat with Hollywood Records recording artist Zella Day. Zella and her guitarist Chris stopped by for an intimate performance to a small group of WALK listeners. After a few songs, Zella also chatted and took selfies with listeners.
Chaz and AJ Raise over $105,000 at their Annual Toy Drive
Chaz and AJ, heard in the morning on three Connoisseur Media Stations, 991 WPLR New Haven, 1029 The Whale Hartford, and 959 the FOX Stamford/Norwalk, raised a record breaking $105,000 in toys and cash at their annual Toy Drive at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport CT.
This action packed event featured performances from Whitford/St Holmes, featuring Brad Whitford of Aerosmith fame, as well as guitar virtuoso Gary Hoey, US Senator Richard Blumenthal, CT mayors of Danbury, Manchester and Bridgeport, comedians Jim Gallagher and Dom Fig, local female news personalities and countless other show regulars and characters. The Chaz & AJ McDermott Chevrolet & Lexus Toy Drive will benefit McGivney Community Center, The Children’s Center of Hamden, Boys & Girls Village, The Village for Families & Children, ConnectiKids and The Center for Human Services.
PLR Sam Tilery Food Drive for CT Food Bank
The PLR Sam Tilery People’s United Bank Food For Friends Drive was held from November 14th through the 20th. Collections for the CT Food Bank took place at three Stop & Shop stores in New Haven, East Haven and North Haven. Together we raised over 5,000 lbs of food, over 180 frozen turkeys and over $3,600 in cash! Watch the video here.
Star 99.9 Brings Community Together With Food for Friends
The Star 99.9 People’s United Bank Food For Friends Food Drive took place at Stop and Shops in Fairfield County from November 14th through the 19th. Star personalities Anna, Raven and Kevin accepted donations while broadcasting live and together with the community raised close to 9,000 lbs of food, 296 Turkeys and about $2,500! Connecticut’s #1 Morning Show, Chaz and AJ, Help Save a Connecticut Veteran from Foreclosure
“Chaz and AJ”, heard on 102.9 the Whale WDRC (Hartford), 99.1 WPLR (New Haven) and 95.9 the FOX (WFOX Stamford/Norwalk), helped raise over $15,000 for a local Connecticut veteran in risk of losing his home today.
Middletown resident Brendon Cameron who formerly served in the United States Air Force in Desert Storm was living a normal life with his wife Janette, and their young family. This past March, he suddenly started experiencing dangerous symptoms consistent with Gulf War Syndrome including epilepsy, tremors, weakness, fatigue, and memory loss among many others. His declining health forced him to stop working. Currently he requires 24-hour care, forcing his wife to leave her job to take care of him. As a result, their home is in foreclosure and they need $8,000 to save it—this is the home they got married in.
Chaz & AJ invited the Camerons on the show on Veterans Day to share their story. Within the first few minutes, the donations came pouring in:
Tom Cantone with Mohegan Sun kicked it off with a pair of Black Sabbath tickets as an auction item. Senator Richard Blumenthal offered a breakfast with him in Washington and tour of Senate floor. Throughout the show, massive donations were called in. Before the end of the show, Chaz & AJ were able to raise: $15,835!

Over 10,000 Celebrate at Pumpkin Park with LI Stations
Two full days of safe trick-or-treating and fun had more than 10,000 kids and parents smiling along with clients feeling super-served at the Annual Pumpkin Park Celebration at Adventureland in Farmingdale. Pumpkin Park has been a heritage WALK event for 15 years. This year marked the first time that our Long Island team was able to promote the event as a cluster with K98.3, 103.1 Max FM, 94.3 The Shark and WHLI.
The Halloween spirit was in full-force, as over 90,000 pieces of candy were handed out and leftover candy was donated to some great local charities.
