We are a successful and forward-thinking broadcast and digital media company seeking an Accounting Analyst to support multiple business units with a primary focus on our digital media group. This person will be on-site in our Westport, CT corporate office reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and partnering with digital sales and operations management teams. The ideal candidate will be an independent, strategic and analytical thinker who is a strong team player. The role will participate in various areas of accounting, financial reporting and FP&A.
Key job responsibilities are:
- Assist with month end close procedures, including preparation and review of journal entries ensuring compliance with US GAAP (focus on digital media revenue recognition).
- Monthly review of accounts receivable and related reserves.
- Coordinate with business units’ finance and sales teams to ensure financial information is complete and accurate to ensure a smooth digital billing operation.
- Investigate significant or unexpected variances in financial results compared to budgets/forecasts.
- Prepare weekly sales forecasts and present to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare accounting models for new leases and update models, as needed, for lease modifications.
- Work cross-functionally to assist with building analytical models in Excel.
- Assist in design and evaluation of policies and processes in support of FP&A and financial reporting.
- Assist in developing process improvements that streamline controls, workflows, and track key operating metrics that can be leveraged to develop planning tools.
- Perform periodic ad hoc analytical projects, or requests from Management.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience, public or public/private mix, preferred.
- Intermediate Excel knowledge including manipulating large data sets.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to interact with colleagues within all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed to drive projects.
- Degree in accounting or business with focus in accounting, preferred.
