On Nov. 21st, Wichita made national news when one of the world’s largest cargo planes, a Boeing Dream Lifter, landed at the wrong airport in Wichita. The enormous plane landed by mistake at the very small Jabara airport 6 miles away from its intended destination, McConnell Air Force Base. The following morning, while the plane still sat on the tiny tarmac, BOB-FM staffers hatched the idea for a new billboard. They were able to reach out to a local digital billboard company who uploaded their graphic within a few hours, just as the plane lifted off to its original destination. The billboard created plenty of Twitter and Facebook activity, and continued the laugh long after the plane was gone. FUN Radio, fast turnaround, topical and TOTALLY LOCAL.
